The challenge: standardize and improve the look of price labels
Brighten Floriculture was founded in 1979. Today, it has stores in many Chinese cities and owns the largest gardening and flower store in Hong Kong. Previously, the store printed its price labels on paper, laminated them and then arranged them in acrylic label holders. As its product range grew, Brighten brand manager Lian Guochen realized all the disadvantages of laminated labels:
- The plastic labels were quickly damaged. Employees had to water and graft the plants every day, which moistened the labels and caused the plastic film to peel off.
- Handwritten texts by different employees made the price tags look inconsistent, which had a negative impact on the store's image.
- The price/performance ratio of the labels was not optimal. After tallying up the number of price labels that needed to be changed or renewed each month, the store manager realized that given the cost of plastic labels and the time required to manufacture them, this was not a cost-effective solution.
