A luxury hotel uses personalized labels to improve the quality of its catering service.

A luxury hotel belonging to the Marriott group, the Portman Ritz-Carlton, renowned for its classic style, is a must-visit destination for high-ranking guests and dignitaries. Located on West Nanjing Road in Shanghai, it occupies the central building of the Shanghai Commercial Center complex, a prestigious commercial and residential area. Built in the 1990s, this luxury hotel has a rich historical heritage. It continues the legendary tradition of the Ritz-Carlton, offering its guests personalized service and all the amenities they need.

The Portman Ritz-Carlton uses custom labels to present dishes at its Portman restaurant and Executive Lounge, both of which offer buffets. The labels feature custom-designed and printed cards to indicate the prices of meals and items sold at the Ritz Bar & Lounge, tea rooms, and gift shops.

The hotel’s mission is to serve its guests with elegance. This brand aims to offer customers an unforgettable experience during their stay. For its excellent catering service, the hotel sought a customized, attractive, and easy-to-use label presentation system. The labels seen in buffets typically use inexpensive paper and plastic that are not durable. Such an approach did not match the hotel’s brand image. But using other materials leads to problems such as complex production or high costs. The composition of the buffet is often decided based on the seasons, current festivals, and other factors. After considering all these elements and comparing the different players in the market, the hotel chose the Edikio Guest solution. This labeling solution allows hotels to easily produce high-quality labels without relying on external suppliers.

The Portman Ritz-Carlton hotel uses Edikio Guest, a comprehensive solution specially developed for hotels and other catering businesses. Thanks to Edikio Guest’s software, the hotel can customize the style and content of the label, then print white text or images on a black card with a matte texture. The Portman Ritz-Carlton has chosen a simple, classic style, featuring the hotel logo, the hotel’s English name, and the names of the dishes in Chinese and English on each menu. The labels, printed identically for the cafeteria and executive lounge, reflect the hotel’s classic style.

There are currently more than 300 different labels. As the dishes change, the catering staff prints new labels, with an average of 3 to 5 new cards each day. All labels are stored in a fixed drawer in the display area. Even if the dishes change temporarily, the staff can quickly find the corresponding labels.

Since the buffet has been using a unified labeling solution, the hotel has decided to expand its use of the Edikio Guest solution. In order to reuse a single card, paper price tags have been replaced by Edikio Guest labels for drinks sold at the Ritz Bar & Lounge in the hotel lobby, desserts in the bakery, and items sold in the gift shops.
